US-Taliban deal could see US pullout in 14 months



The US and its allies will withdraw all their troops from Afghanistan in 14 months if the Taliban uphold their commitments under a offer to be signed soon, officials say.

The announcement came in a joint US-Afghan declaration issued in Kabul.

The arrangement, to be signed in Qatar later on on Saturday, is aimed at paving the way in the direction of peace in Afghanistan soon after extra than 18 decades of conflict.

Talks among the Afghan governing administration and the Taliban are to stick to.

“The coalition will complete the withdrawal of their remaining forces from Afghanistan inside 14 months pursuing the announcement of this joint declaration and the US-Taliban settlement… topic to the Taliban’s fulfilment of its commitments,” the statement launched by the US and Afghan governments reported.
