“The US crews issued multiple warnings by way of bridge-to-bridge radio, five shorter blasts from the ships’ horns and prolonged-range acoustic noise maker equipment, but acquired no reaction from the IRGCN.”

“Just after close to a single hour, the IRGCN vessels responded to the bridge-to-bridge radio queries, then manoeuvred absent from the US ships and opened length amongst them,” it extra.

The US Navy mentioned these kinds of “harmful and provocative steps increased the risk of miscalculation and collision”, and were being not in accordance with worldwide maritime conventions or customs.

The US also accused Iran of carrying out assaults on six tankers in the Gulf of Oman and launching missiles and drones at two oil facilities in Saudi Arabia. Iran denied any involvement.
