Riyaz Naikoo: Indian forces kill top Kashmir militant

Indian protection forces have killed a well known militant chief in disputed Kashmir, officials say.

Riyaz Naikoo had taken about command of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen group, succeeding Burhan Wani who was killed by safety forces in 2016.

Wani’s death activated large protests in the area, which is claimed in its entirety by equally India and Pakistan.

The area has noticed an armed insurgency in opposition to Indian rule given that 1989, which has flared subsequent Wani’s killing.
