Coronavirus: McDonald’s to close all UK restaurants

McDonald’s will close all 1,270 of its eating places in the British isles by the close of Monday, as fears in excess of the distribute of Covid 19 escalate.

Beforehand, the rapidly foodstuff large experienced shut its seating areas but had ongoing to provide takeaway and push-by products and services.

McDonald’s stated it required to defend the wellbeing of staff members and buyers.

It follows a listing of other big brand names to near about virus fears, such as Primark, John Lewis and Timpson.

McDonald’s employs close to 120,000 people in the United kingdom, the the greater part of which are on zero-hours contracts.

The chain did not say whether or not its personnel would go on to be paid out.

On its Uk Twitter account, McDonald’s stated: “We have taken the difficult choice to near all McDonald’s places to eat in the Uk and Ireland by 7pm on Monday 23rd March at the latest.

“This is not a decision taken evenly but one with the wellbeing and safety of our personnel in mind as nicely as in the finest pursuits of our consumers.”
